Happy World Sleep Day: Unlocking the True Causes of Insomnia

World Sleep Day, organised by the World Association of Sleep Medicine, celebrates the importance of healthy sleep and raises awareness about sleep disorders. One-third of adults suffer from insomnia—yet many treatments fail to address the root cause.

I help people sleep so they can wake up to their full potential. Having overcome chronic insomnia myself, I’m passionate about sharing what actually works—because good sleep isn’t just about bedtime habits. It’s about a deeper, often overlooked factor: brainwave flexibility.

From Sleepless Nights to Deep Rest: My Journey

My insomnia started during a high-pressure career in finance. Like many, I turned to the typical recommendations: meditation, acupuncture, therapy, relaxation techniques. Nothing worked.

Determined to heal, I travelled the world to study the most effective sleep modalities. I trained in hypnotherapy, neurolinguistic programming, coaching, sound therapy, and cognitive re-patterning. I even worked with renowned neuroscientist Dr. Joe Dispenza, exploring brainmapping and brainwave science.

The turning point? Understanding how brainwave flexibility impacts sleep. That was the missing piece of the puzzle.

Why Brainwave Flexibility Matters

Our brains operate in different wave states depending on our mental activity. When focused, we’re in beta. As we unwind, we enter alpha. Deep relaxation moves us into theta, and delta is the slowest state—where deep sleep occurs.

But in today’s fast-paced world, our brains get stuck. We lose the ability to shift easily between states. If you can’t slow your brainwaves, sleep becomes elusive—no matter how many techniques you try.

The Hidden Reason Meditation Might Not Work for You

Relaxation and meditation are often recommended to support sleep. But here’s the issue: if you’ve lost brainwave flexibility, it’s incredibly hard to enter the relaxed state required for these practices to work.

Many people feel frustrated when meditation doesn’t help. But it’s not their fault. Their brains simply can’t switch off.

That’s why I use a holistic sleep coaching approach. It’s designed to restore brainwave flexibility and balance the nervous system. I also help clients shift thought patterns, create sustainable sleep strategies, and recalibrate their lifestyle—all so sleep can happen naturally again.

Remember How to Relax

Most of my clients have simply forgotten how to truly relax. They’re caught in constant stimulation and mental overdrive. But when we retrain the brain to move between wave states again, something amazing happens—sleep returns, and so does their energy and vitality.

Relaxation isn’t just about feeling good. It’s a gateway to restoring natural sleep.
